Petar Vukelic, age 81, passed away on June 27, 2024. Petar was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for his hard work, generosity, and selflessnes, always willing to make sacrifices for others.
Born in Yugoslavia, Petar emigrated to the United States in 1982 with his family. He built a successful career in international trade, providing a better life for his loved ones and contributing to the community with his work.
Petar had many interests and hobbies that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. He was an avid chess player and had a deep love for history and geography. His broad political awareness kept him engaged in world affairs, and he enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques in his free time.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Vesna; his son, Mihailo; his daughter, Slava; his cherished grandsons, Otis and Ansel Murphy; and his son-in-law, Jesse Murphy.
Petar will be remembered as a profoundly giving man who left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7 PM in Thomas J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Inc. 2323 E. Carson St. Funeral Service will be held on Monday 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Sava Cemetery.
