Obituary

Born August 12, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully in Graham, NC on Friday, December 25, 2020. Louisa was best known for her dedication to the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and her beautiful soprano voice, singing with the Serbian choir. Her laugh. Oh, her laugh. Anyone who knew her knew her laugh. It was wonderful, infectious, engaging anyone around her and guaranteed to put a smile on her face, she was a loyal member of the Serb National Federation and volunteered for many years at UPMC. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, James (Cathy) Ratay, Christine (Donald) Best and Denise (Michael) Lopez. Daughter to the late Theodore and Dorothy (Karamarkovich) Kukich; sister of Conte DeLoyo, Constance Betz and the late Sally Stone and Theodore Kukich. She was previously married to the late Andrew Ratay; grandmother of Richard Vittallo-Best, Kali Vittallo-Best, Michael Lopez, Jr., Elaina (Steven) Denhardt, Angela Lopez, Ali (Joshua) Lopez Porter, Erica (Randall) Lopez Burdette and the late Jennifer Ratay; Baba to her great-grandchildren, Kelsi Jackson, Mason and Faren Denhardt, Aja and Amelia Harris and Joziah Livingston-Best. Funeral Service Friday 12:30 PM in Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. Visitation one hour prior to service in the Cathedral. Arrangements by Thomas J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Inc. A full celebration of life will be held at a later date.
