Leonard “Len” Chorney, born March 11, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, died peacefully at Asbury Health Center, May 6, 2025. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Boris and Helen (Kachmar) Chorney, his son, Leonard David Chorney, his siblings, Ann Mitchell, Andrew, Peter, John, Michael, Stella Stevens, Olga Lewis, and Boris Jr.
Len is survived by his sons Michael and Todd, his grandchildren: Crystal (Michael), Leonard [Richelle], Logan, Lance, Kacie (Brandon), Alyssa (Hunter), his daughter-in-law, Colleen Duggan Chorney, and many nieces and nephews.
Len was a U.S. Army paratrooper in the Korean war, making more than 30 jumps behind enemy lines. He was a retired City of Pittsburgh painter. Len enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Moraine Camplands. He will be remembered for his quick wit and Dad Jokes which included, “Everyone brings joy…some by coming…some by going.” He will be missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of prayer service at 1:00 PM at Thomas J. Gmiter Funeral Home, 2323 E. Carson St. Interment will follow in South Side Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Wreaths Across America. (wreathsacrossamerica.org)
