Joan Janine Yanosick passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025. Born and raised on the South Side of Pittsburgh, Joan later moved to Baldwin and finally to Brookline, where she resided at Fair Oaks Assisted Living.
The daughter of the late John and Constance Goliwas, Joan, was employed at Autenrieth's, a well-known historic five-and-dime store in the Pittsburgh area. She later worked as a bank teller at Mellon Bank and United American Savings and Loan.
Joan enjoyed an active social life, attending bingo, playing cards, and spending time with her many friends and family members. She was an active member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols, where she was affectionately known as "Aunt Joanie" to hundreds of children who attended the beloved Sokol Children's Christmas party, which she coordinated for over 20 years.
She had a passion for knitting and crocheting, creating many beautiful blankets for the newborn babies of friends and with her knitting club for Project Linus, a non-profit organization that provides handmade blankets to critically ill, traumatized, or otherwise needy children and their families.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Yanosick and dear mother of Joseph (Jodi) Yanosick, Andrew (Lori) Yanosick, and the late Connie (survived by Michael) Barton, and Marlene (Ron) Kramer. She was the loving grandmother of Nathan Yanosick, Francesca Yanosick, Jacob Yanosick, John Yanosick, and Shannon (Lonnie) Tyree, and great-grandmother of Jolene Tyree. Joan was the sister of the late John (survived by Dolores) Goliwas, Theodosia George, and Alice Crane, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
