Jack Phillips
Jack Phillips, lovingly known as "Pap Jack", 86, of the Southside, passed away surrounded by his family on July 10th, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Barbara H. Phillips. Survived by his four children, Jack (Mary Ellen) Phillips, Mary Beth (Tom) Gugliuzza, Jim (Rhonda) Phillips, and Kevin (Donna) Phillips; seven grandchildren, John, Deanna, Sarah, Ian, Kevin, Nicole, and Nick; eight great-grandchildren, Jakob, Michael, Makenzie, Jimmy, Kalani, Azarah, John, Liam and a new one on the way; two sisters, Catherine Phillips Boyle, and Margaret Phillips Curley. He was a devoted business owner for 40+ years of Phillips Heating and Air Conditioning and worked up until the end. In the early 1950s, Jack served as a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the 77th Special Forces Group. The 77th Special Forces Group was the first unit of "Green Berets." Jack served as a Green Beret for several years. He was also a member of the Special Forces Association (Chapter 67) for several decades. Jack would often say that he never had a bad day in his life. He was famously known for being, "damn near perfect" and being chairman of the weather committee. Pap Jack, as you would say, "with the help of God, we will see you again."
