"If you're not there 15 minutes early, you're late." In keeping with his motto, Carl Alaimo arrived at St. Peter's gates five days prior to his 100th birthday. In his almost 100 trips around the sun, Carl survived the Great Depression, served his country in WWII, delivering supplies via the Burma Road, owned three produce stores, delivered produce to numerous restaurants and pizza shops, married the love of his life, Marie (Bohn), raised a wonderful son, Jim, welcomed a caring daughter-in-law, Pattie (Zychowski), loved his two granddaughters, Lisa (Brian Bielozer) and Kristen (Mark Sommer), found joy in his great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander, Dominic, and Charlotte, was devoted to his faith, family, and his beloved WWII Veteran's ballcaps. *** He hit the biggest jackpot... a wonderful life! We love you Dad, Grandpap, and Great Grandpap. *** Carl was a lifelong Southside resident and passed peacefully into God's hands February 10, 2021. He was the husband of the late Marie (Bohn), his "Sweetie," to whom he was married for 57 years, the brother of the late, Joseph Navarro, Jack Alaimo, Carmella Alaimo, and Stella LeDonne, and is survived by his sister, Marie Murphy; his son, James Alaimo (Patricia); granddaughters, Lisa (Brian Bielozer) and Kristen (Mark Sommer); great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander, Dominic, and Charlotte, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. *** Visitation is at Thomas J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Inc., 2323 E. Carson St., Pittsburgh, PA. 15203, on Sunday, February 14, 1-5 PM. For the Mass of Christian Burial, please meet at St. Adalbert Church on the Southside, Monday, February 15 at 10:00 AM. *** Due to Covid 19 restrictions, masks, social distancing, and occupancy guidelines will be followed. *** PLEASE, NO FLOWERS, JUST PRAYERS AND PAY IT FORWARD TO A VETERAN. *** The family would like to thank the staff at Paramount Senior Living in Bethel Park for taking wonderful care of him and being his family for the past 11 months.
