Age 38, formerly of the South Side and Baldwin Township, passed away at home after a courageous seven year battle with brain cancer. Best friend of 14 years and husband of 8 years, to Amy (Moore). Loving father of Brayden. Son of Kim (Kolenda) and Carl Herschk, brother to Cory (Jessica) and Jarrod (Katie). Uncle to Caden and Gianna. Son-in-law to William and Diane Moore, brother-in-law to William II (Chelsea). Brett is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his close group of friends, The Sunday Crew. Brett worked for many years as a commercial painter with the IUPAT DC 57. He was known for always having a smile on his face and doing anything to make people laugh. Even during his cancer battle he always smiled and kept a positive outlook. He truly was an unforgettable person. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in Thomas J. Gmiter Funeral Home, 2323 E. Carson St. Pittsburgh, 15203. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.
