Amy Berresford Obituary

Amy Jo Berresford, 73, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away after a 13-month battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday, February 9, 2026, in her home. Born August 9, 1952, in Beaver Falls, PA, she was raised in Darlington, PA, a daughter of the late Charles and Jane (Heeter) Berresford. She graduated from Northwestern High School in 1970, Butler County Memorial Hospital of Nursing in 1972, University Health Center of Pittsburgh School of Anesthesia for Nurses in 1983, California University of Pennsylvania for Education in 1986, and LaRoche College with a master’s degree in human resources management in 1997.  She worked at various Pittsburgh Hospitals before working for over 20 years and retiring from Magee-Women’s Hospital in 2018.  Amy was active on the board of Cribs for Kids and honored with their 13th Annual Women of Achievement Award.  After retirement, Amy volunteered at Family House of Pittsburgh and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. She attended Mary, Queen of Peace Parish and volunteered for their Friday Fish Fry during Lent for the past several years.

Amy was a very social person and a great friend to many. She enjoyed reading, attending the theater, symphony, and Broadway shows; evenings with the Gateway Girls; and traveling within the United States and abroad.  Everyone who knew Amy knew how much her family and friends meant to her.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law, William Fetter Sr. and Terry Uslenghi. She is survived by her loving and caring sisters, Betsey Uslenghi, Charlene (Paul) Wadlinger, and Prudy (John) Boger.  Amy loved and cherished her family, especially her nieces and nephews, recently quoting them as, “the loves of my life” : Jennifer Uslenghi, Janelle (Jason) McCarter, Jolene (Chris) Williams, Bill (Heather) Fetter, Ben (Kim) Fetter, Brian (Amanda) Fetter, Amanda (Stephan) Boyer, Rachel (Lee) Grandovic, and Rebecca (Mariano) Ospina. Aunt Amy also greatly cherished her great and great-great nieces and nephews: Natalee (Rob) Schuman, Robert III and Elizabeth; Sydney (Nicholas) DiGregorio, Olivia and Roman; Luke McCater; Carter Williams; Billy Fetter and Macklen; Aubrey Fetter; Tyler, Halle, and Cody Fetter; Kensley Fetter; Blair and Clay Boyer; and Layla Grandovic.

Honoring Amy’s wishes, there will be no viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on February 28, 2026, at St. Mary of the Mount Church at 403 Grandview Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15211. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life luncheon at Shiloh Gastro, 123 Shiloh St, Pittsburgh, PA 15211. Amy will be laid to rest at Holy Souls Cemetery.

The family is truly grateful to the Hillman Cancer Center nurses for their great care and kindness to Amy during her treatments.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her honor to one of the charities that were near and dear to her: Cribs for Kids (CribsForKids.org); Family House (FamilyHouse.org/donate); or Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (pittsburghfoodbank.org)
