Age 99, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Lambert Stanny; loving daughter of the late Agnes Simkunas Genaitis and Casimir Simkunas; sister of the late Albert (Josie) Simkunas; sister-in-law of the late Joseph Stanny, Susan Wayhart Wood and Paul A. Stanny; dearly loved by her nephew, Paul C. Stanny; and numerous nieces and nephews; cherished by her godchildren and treasured by her many friends. Vi was very active in the Lithuanian community. She was a member of the Lithuanian Citizens Society of Western Pennsylvania. Viola's dedication and love of her heritage was extraordinary. Viola was also the owner of the former Vi's Bar and Grill on Forbes Ave. in Soho. Friends received Thursday 2-8 PM in Thomas J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Inc. 2323 E. Carson St., where a Blessing Service will be held Friday 11:00 AM, followed by interment in St. Casimir Cemetery in Castle Shannon.
